Heath Ledger is one of the most iconic and influential actors and today, April 4th, would’ve been his 37th birthday. On days like this the loss of Heath Ledger is very prominently mourned, along with the legacy he left behind. Heath was found in his SoHo apartment after an accidental prescription drug overdose, he was only 28 at the time.
Heath is mostly known for his films 10 Things I Hate About You and The Dark Knight. Unfortunately, Heath’s death was four months before the premier of the highly anticipated Batman film The Dark Knight. Christopher Nolan, director of The Dark Knight spoke to EW in an interview in 2008 in which he stated that finishing The Dark Knight was the only way he got through the death; “For me, for my process, just working straight through it and wrestling through it and working was actually — I felt very lucky to have something to do…I was very fortunate: I had something very specific to be getting on with — I felt an enormous amount of responsibility to him.”
Heath leaves his legacy behind with his now 10 year old daughter Matilda who is the spitting image of him.
Heath’s death is one that still weighs heavy on the world. We see it on days especially like today and the anniversary of his passing but it is souls like his that are great for the world. We miss you Heath.
